Merikarhu is the only sauna boat in our Helsinki fleet: a historic fishing trawler built in Norway in 1939 and refitted for atmospheric private events, sauna experiences and celebrations at sea. The experience combines old-time seafaring spirit, a wood-fired sauna, sea swimming, fresh salmon smoked on board and delicious grilled dishes served on deck. Merikarhu is ideal for groups of 12 to 30 people looking for something truly different from the usual restaurant evening, meeting venue or modern sauna raft cruise.
Merikarhu offers an atmosphere that a modern space cannot replicate. It is a warm, characterful sauna boat rich in stories, where history, Finnish sauna culture, good food, and the Helsinki archipelago come together.
The vessel is ideally suited for corporate away days, evening gatherings for management teams and work groups, client events, birthdays, outings with friends, and private celebrations.
At the heart of Merikarhu lies a traditional wood-burning sauna. It accommodates around eight people at a time, making it easy for even larger groups to enjoy the sauna in turns.
After the sauna, you can take a dip in the sea, cool off on deck and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the archipelago. The vessel has a 1,000-litre water tank, a water heater, two showers and two toilets, so even larger groups can freshen up comfortably.
Dining is a major part of the Merikarhu experience. The vessel is equipped with a smoker for smoking fresh sea salmon on board, as well as a grill for preparing impressive grilled delicacies.
Fresh fish can be smoked on-site in a traditional smoker. The aroma of smoke, the sea air, and warm salmon served straight from the smoker create an experience that is truly part of a seaside moment.
Catering can be served as a relaxed archipelago-style buffet, a grill menu or tailored entirely to your wishes.
